Hey Everyone! So. I’ve been busy. SongwritingGraduatingCollegePlayingShowsWorkingForTheSummerTravelingandJob /ApartmentHunting to be exact! Let’s go down the list:

After my big adventurous trip to LA in March, I came back to New York feeling oh-so inspired and have been writing ever since! Playing around with different tunings, different instruments, and different locations (sometimes…I write genius lyrics when I’m sitting on the side of the bathtub (great acoustics)…but don’t tell anyone!)  I recorded a few new songs with Matt Thorne while in LA…find them on my website www.merrillamos.com.  Let me know what you think! Write in my guestbook, post to my Facebook page, send me an email or a tweet (or as my boss would say…. “Twitter me”…hmm).  Moving on. Next on the list…

I graduated college! *cue the celebrations!* What’s next?? I’m moving to LA, that’s what! (Skipping forward on the list..) I’ve been tirelessly job searching, but the good news is I got a callback for a grocery store job! All is not lost…and the food discount may come in quite handy.  I’ve been selling a few items on eBay to contribute to the moving fund, and searching around for some camping equipment for my trip out there! My sister gave me a Flip Cam for graduation so don’t worry, I can document the whooooolllleeeee thing. Many think I’m a crazy little girl for driving and camping across the country by myself…I’ve heard quite a few “it was nice knowing you”-esque comments over the past few weeks but ya know what?? I’m effin excited. Take that, nonbelievers!

Ok getting back with the list: I’ve played a bunch of concerts! I played 3 in one day back in May (my endurance is WAY up, no big deal)…but unfortunately I was the victim of a bird poop incident just before the first one, and my poor dress had a nondescript white blotch on it…suspicious.  It was a great story, though. The audience really connected with me and my down-to-earthyness. Later in May, I made my second appearance on the Chicks That Rock Tour in Syracuse, NY and the headliners Adrenaline Crush brought me up on stage with them to help out with some vocals on their cover of “Listen to Your Heart.” I have a picture to prove it!

Chicks That Rock

See??

Next up I played at Reunion for my alma mater (still weird being all graduated and stuff) and my CD was a popular item among the alums! Made some great contacts, even some out in LA, so it turned out to be a really great evening all-around.  I’ve also got a show coming up in early July at the Women’s Rights to Rock Festival in Seneca Falls, NY – stay tuned for details!! Side note: I’m going to see Sara Bareilles and Sugarland on July 8th…AHHHH!

Currently? I am working for the summer trying to save the moneyz for my big adventure! The excitement around the office was that we had a mouse invasion last week…and since my boss is terrified, I earn mega brownie points for being the fearless mouse wrangler that I am (psh…I had SQUIRRELS in my house this Spring…someone give me a real challenge). Also I’ve been doing a bit of traveling…drove home for a weekend to visit my dad, went up to Lake Ontario for a little excursion, and what I am very anxiously awaiting: I’m going to Vermont in July! My relatives have a place up by Mount Snow (Sorry…not enough space in the cabin for you) :( Then after that it’s all pack-pack-pack for LA! Excitement! I absolutely can’t wait to get this party started…and you’re all invited! (Cheesy? Maybe…but it’s true).  Bye for now!

Would I Lie To You? Kitteh

Cute, I know! =^.^=

Greetings, adoring fans!!  It’s that time of year again – I have a cold that doesn’t seem to want to go away, regardless of the copious amounts of Dayquil and Emergen-C I have thrown at it—and oh yeah, and I’m making lots of plans!  I’m just finishing up my last semester at college (got measured for my cap and gown today…ah!), and the big question at the front of my mind is, “what’s next?!”

Let’s start with the near future and recent past:

You’ll be excited to know I wrote a new song!! It’s called “The Doll” and I’m SO excited about it. I’ll be working on getting a recording up of it for you all!! I wrote it after a long time of songwriter’s block, during which time I was writing a lot of poetry, so I ended up going back to what I’d written and making them into a song! It makes for a really lyrically interesting piece. Excitement!

I played at an Open Mic last week and it went incredibly well (despite my cold)!  Got a chance to debut the new song and play some other stuff I’ve been working on.

My sister told me she’s going to the GRAMMYS!  I am choosing to put my jealousy aside and instead respond that (when) I go in the years to come, I’m going to have better seats than her (aka where all the nominees sit). But ok, yes, I’m still jealous for the time being.

February 11th – Sonos

I’m going to be opening up for the phenomenal a cappella group Sonos at Hobart and William Smith      Colleges!  I was particularly excited to be offered this gig because Sonos has worked with the one and only Sara Bareilles (aka my HERO!) on recording a version of her song, “Gravity.”

              Here’s a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Un-qaxdEJ0

I’m thinking about asking them for Sara’s phone number…ya know, just to say hi and stuff.

**The show will be at 8pm in Albright Auditorium at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY!**

February 25th – Scarab Body Arts Presents: Chicks That Rock!

A few months ago I opened up for a great band called Adrenaline Crush at Fusion in North Syracuse, NY.  Those guys were so great to get me on board with the Chicks That Rock tour, now!!  I’ll be playing two sets that evening (also at Fusion) starting at 6 (for 1 hour) and then a shorter one later on!

Other groups include: Adrenaline Crush, Catastrophe Me, The Feroni Project, and Ashley Cox.

Here are the details for Fusion:

                    3705 Brewerton Rd

               North Syracuse, NY 13212

            Hope to see you there!!!

It’s looking to be an exciting month!!  Stay tuned on my website, Facebook, and Twitter pages for updates!!

I hope this finds you doing well and loving life.
